Verne G. Orndorff Award
Our highest award for distinguished service in support of the work of the STA is the Verne G. Orndorff Award. Verne is recognized as the Father of the Sheltowee Trace NRT. It was under Verne's vision that the Trace was built. His hard work and determination has given Kentuckians and all American's a tremendous treasure trove of adventure all the hills and cliff lines, and streams of the The Boone and the Big South Fork.

2015 Volunteer of Year Jeff Miller
Each year the STA recognizes the efforts of our volunteers at the Annual Conference. Our volunteers are crucial to maintaining access for all individuals. Each year we award the Volunteer of the Year Award to that individual or group that has given above and beyond to the maintaining of the Trace or in support of the work of the STA.

Trail Business of Year Award Presented to Sheltowee Trace Adventure Resort
The STA Business of the Year in 2015 was awarded to the Sheltowee Trace Adventure Resort - otherwise known for years as Sheltowee Trace Outfitters. General Manager, Dania Egedi was on hand at the annual Gathering to receive the award. (READ THE CERTIFICATE HERE)
For over 25 years the STO has been there supporting backpackers, day hikers, providing shuttles, and promoting the Trace. We are honored to recognize them as the 2015 Business of the Year.
Awardees are selected each year from a submissions by members of the STA that feel a local business has gone out of their way to assist users of the Trace.
