The Work of the STA Chapters
More and more users are coming to the Trace to enjoy the trail and the spectacular opportunities for outdoor recreation. As the Trace's popularity grows, it is important that the STA work as hard as we can to insure the trail is in great shape and accessible. With almost 400 member now, the STA has moved to establish local on the ground Trace Chapters along the trail that will have the responsibility for maintaining a specific section of the Trace. They will also assist users with shuttle, maps, guidebooks, host adventure activities and Chapter functions. Members along the Trace are asked to join their local chapter as listed below. Members and friends from outside the immediate vicinity of the Trace are asked to still get involved as "at-large" members of their chapter and join in the work where they wish.
How do you join a Chapter? When you become a member or renew your membership, there is a box that lists the Chapters available and the "At-Large" Chapters. You just click there and the leadership from that Chapter will be in touch by email or phone to answer questions and fill you in on plans. 25% of your membership fee is returned to the Regional Chapter you join for their use in maintaining the Trace and supporting Chapter activities.
