THE SHELTOWEE TRACE ASSOCIATION
Who We AreWe are a 501(c)3 non-profit association with the purpose of achieving the formation of a highly functional cross-state recreation trail.
Our MissionOur mission is to protect, preserve, and promote the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail as a significant national resource for the enjoyment of hikers, bikers, and equestrians, and for the value that wild and scenic lands provide to all people.

History
The Sheltowee Trace Association was born out of a need to work with the land managers who control the Trace to assist them in the maintenance, accessibility and promotion of this National Recreation Trail.
In the fall of 2009, a group of concerned outdoor enthusiasts met with the Forest Service in Winchester to discuss the needs of the Trace and how an organization might be able to help.
At the end of this meeting, those present agreed to form the Sheltowee Trace Association and to elect officers to guide the organization for the first year. Learn more about our leadership and the Board of Directors.
