The STA Adopt-A-Trail Program

There are approximately 243 miles of Sheltowee Trace Trail on the Daniel Boone National Forest available for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and motorized vehicle use. The STA attempts to maintain about 220 of the 243 miles – the Red River Gorge Crew maintains the Trace in the Gorge.

Your Help is Welcome!

Individuals and groups can help maintain the Trace and restore or protect resources in our area by “adopting” a trail or a section of trail. As an Individual or as a group, you’re asked to return on a continuing basis to ensure the trail that you adopt will remain open and accessible.

Download the Adopt-A-Trail Program Guidance for more information on how to apply. Check out the Trail Volunteer Orientation Powerpoint at the link below.

Need more information or have questions please contact the executive director of the STA at director@sheltoweetrace.org.
